Results 1 to 8 of 8. Bulking and Toning at the same time? Hi Nobody, take a look here: I don't really understand your Q, how would a rep count help with toning? I thought reps of 7 or less where considered size, whereas 8 or more where considered strenght? To 'tone', you build up muscles by weight training, and lose subcutaneous fat, just like Mreik said. The only thing doing a ton of reps with light weights accomplishes, is trainign you to do a lot of reps with light weight Useful for marathon runners, cross country skiers Low reps with heavy weight is more about building strength This is why you'll see a smaller built powerlifter outlift a much larger bodybuilder.
Around reps until failure will build more strenght instead of size? Correct, because you're able to increase the poundage lifted as you're only doing a few reps. This type of lifting is very hard on the CNS central nervous system so it's hard to train this way for extended periods. Thus 'periodization' of training is used to prevent you from mentally crashing from such hardcore training. Oh, I just hate exercising in general. Now, how much of a severity on the nervous system are we talking about here?
There's really no reason to go to failure. Nobody, you seem very down sometimes and have a negativity towards physical fitness. Certainly you must get some satisfaction from being active or you wouldn't be? By sotonguy in forum Body Weight Training. Bulking, now thinking of toning By Shaggy in forum Weight Training.
